With respect for the environment

For future generations

We consider caring for the environment as a natural part of our existence. From the very beginning, during the construction of the resort and the selection of its technological infrastructure, we have ensured that it respects the surrounding nature, contributes to the protection and development of the environment, but also that it fits sensitively into the green atmosphere of the park. We also ensure sustainability in the daily operation of the resort.

Naturally, we apply the highest ecological standards and go above and beyond by internally adjusting our activities in terms of energy efficiency or waste policy.

Green areas

The VILLA SANDY resort is characterised by a high proportion of green areas, making it a natural part of the surrounding park. The resort’s unique green roofs with intensive planting are among the largest in the region, with an area of more than 2000 m2. Thus, we contribute to the promotion of a healthy local climate not only in the territory of the City Park but also in the entire city centre of Košice. Green roofs have many advantages, whether on an economic, ecological or social level. They dampen rainwater, purify the air, reduce the ambient temperature, regulate the indoor temperature, save energy and, last but not least, promote biodiversity in the city.

Water element

The water element has historically been a very important element in the City Park. The Hornád River used to flow directly alongside the City Park. There were also natural springs in this area, which were used in the 19th century in the town baths. Our aim is to bring back this water element. The resort has a number of water areas that not only make the stay of our guests more pleasant, but also support the local climate and reduce the energy consumption of the resort. The magnificent water wall is part of the atmosphere of the EMOTI restaurant. The pond with a stream and a fountain is a magical place in the back of the VILLA SANDY pavilion that will enchant every visitor to the resort and the POINT parkfood kiosk.

Bio garden

The VILLA SANDY chef’s garden on the roof of the resort is not only a tool for the production of local products, but also a place to support local fauna. Organic quality, home production, healthy lifestyle are not only a theme for us, but a true reality. By growing our own produce we contribute to self-sufficiency and also to a really healthy offer of absolutely fresh herbs and vegetables. We also use bio-waste, which we compost our organic garden with. Our vegetables and herbs are thus grown without pesticides and artificial fertilizers. We immediately create ideal conditions for flying insects and other small animals.

Ecological innovations

The Department uses a variety of green technologies and renewable resources. Solar collectors, the use of natural light by means of a sophisticated system of mirrors, waste heat recovery and its subsequent use in operations, and others such as the use of only eco-friendly cleaning products, natural cosmetics, waste sorting, and the reduction and elimination of waste generation. We contribute to saving energy, reducing the burden on the grid, promoting healthy lifestyles and contributing to health protection.

Energy-saving technologies

In the resort’s facilities, in the kitchen or laundry, we use modern class A technological equipment. For our project, energy efficiency and economy means lower consumption and higher comfort. We consume less electricity, reduce water consumption, and use environmentally friendly cleaning products. We are very sensitive to the limited mineral resources and try to contribute to the protection of our planet with our approach.

Ecology in practice

Within the resort’s offer to our guests, we also adhere to ecological principles. The resort’s products are packaged in eco-friendly or reusable materials. We promote eco-mobility, for example, by providing a charging station for electric vehicles within the resort’s car park. We will soon also offer our clients shared eco-transport for discovering the beauty of our city Košice.
