Return of ancient glory

History

The dominant feature of the VILLA SANDY Resort is the National Cultural Monument dating back to 1909, formerly known as the “Skating Pavilion”.

This unique Art Nouveau building with its adjoining grounds was a popular venue for sports and social activities in the green heart of the city in the first half of the 20th century. However, it subsequently fell into oblivion, underwent insensitive redevelopment and fell into disrepair until around 2010. The pavilion was rescued and completely restored as part of the resort’s development.

At the same time, out of respect, the building and the entire resort bear the name of its author – the famous architect and builder Július Sándy. With the opening of the resort, we are bringing back the traditions of sports and social activities to the Municipal Park in Košice.

The pavilion is now open to the public again after decades, as a premium restaurant and traditional SEVEN café.

Ecology

The VILLA SANDY Resort was created in such a way that it sensitively and unobtrusively fits into the environment of the city park and meets the strict requirements for ecological service.

The entire resort is characterized by a large extent of greenery, water features, roof gardens and ecological innovations. The unique green roofs in the resort with intensive own planting, including an organic garden for kitchen needs, with an area of more than 2000 m2, are among the largest in the region.

Maximum energy efficiency using multi-source energy supply and environmental behavior, especially regarding the processing of waste management or the use of recyclable materials, is part of the daily practice at the resort.

We act with a sense of responsibility towards future generations.
